I have always loved macro photography.

Macro has always been an interest of mine, and this was the first time that I was actually able to take macro photos with a macro lens and macro tubes. I was basically in heaven throughout this entire shoot. Macro is great because it allows you to see the world in a different perspective. There are so many things around you that you wouldn’t even think of that have such great details that make your photographs look incredible.

Isn’t it awesome that water droplets can turn into miniature fish-eye lenses? Getting the focus in this photograph was difficult, but it was worth it. You can definitely tell that that is a strawberry inside that little water drop. So cool!

You don’t have to go crazy with the large water drops either. I really like the spray of small ones too. It makes it look like it had just rained. It gives your photographs a really fresh feeling to them. Of course, fruit and flowers are the way to go with multiple small water drops. Or shampoo bottles.

This one is probably my favorite. I love the contrast between the dark lines on the petals to the highlighted water droplets on the other side. The sun was shining just right onto those droplets to get that wonderful highlight.

If you can’t afford a macro lens, don’t worry. Macro tubes and filters are the way to go! I took the fish eye water droplet photograph with a macro filter, and it turned out great. Just because it’s inexpensive doesn’t mean you can’t get awesome results. Here’s an article that teaches you all about how to take beautiful water droplet photos.

Happy photographing!
