After doing this shoot, I realized that I love food photography. I love getting up close and getting all of the small details that one might normally miss, and I love love love bokeh in food photography. Bokeh, or having a shallow depth of field, makes the photograph look more ethereal and makes the food look a lot more appetizing. Having a bright exposure also helps the food look more alive, if that makes any sense. Food photography is now my bae.
I love using textured wood with food and produce photography. It gives it a much more homey feel to the photograph–like the food was prepared just seconds before the photo was taken. I can almost imagine steam coming off of the bread and the asparagus.
I really like your food photography style. I think you were able to get some creative shots that I wasn’t expecting. Great job on that. I also love how bright and light the photos are. You’re right; lighting is big when it comes to food photography.
