When I went on my four day photo excursion, I was able to stay in a beautiful lodge.

Sky Mountain Lodge is located in Victor, Idaho, and it is absolutely gorgeous. The landscape surrounding it was incredible during the winter time. Every morning the trees had a fresh blanket of snow on them, as well as the surrounding barns and cabins. Although, I wasn’t joking about us waking up every morning to fresh snow. It eventually got so bad that we were temporarily snowed in and were planning on having to stay an extra day.

The trees were definitely my favorite. My favorite photograph I took at the lodge is the one below, with the aspen tree and the rot. I love the contrast of the colors. The orange and rust colors really pop against the black and white of the tree.

The snowplow came to free us! We had to awkwardly run out the way while wearing snowshoes so we could get out of the way.

Since I love taking photographs of trees, here’s an article that teaches you all about how to take better pictures of trees, either in groups or just singular ones. There’s a lot more that goes into it than you think.

Happy Photographing!
